Building for Scale: How Custom Engineering Powered an International Line Expansion

When a major HVAC manufacturer sets out to expand production across borders, off-the-shelf equipment rarely gets the job done. Growing a facility- especially in high-demand markets like air conditioning- requires custom equipment, upfront planning, and absolute trust between partners.

Industrial Thermal Systems (ITS) recently teamed up with a leading HVAC brand to support a major plant expansion in Mexico.

The Challenge: Handling Multiple Coil Sizes on One Line

The client was growing fast, but their production needs were complex. They needed a system that could wash and dry a wide range of parts- from small evaporative cooler lines up to massive 10-foot coils.

To keep production moving smoothly, they couldn’t afford a rigid machine that only handled one size at a time. They needed maximum operational flexibility without sacrificing speed or output.

The Solution: A Custom 10-Degree Tilt Washer

Over a four-month planning process, ITS worked closely with the client’s engineering team to map out every detail up front, preventing costly mid-project changes.

The breakthrough came in a custom washer built on a 10-degree tilt. Combined with adjustable washing and dry-off ovens, this unique design allowed the plant to handle different cord sizes and process anywhere from one to four coil rolls at the exact same time on a single line.

The Impact & Results

By delivering a repeat line alongside a brand-new custom system, ITS eliminated production bottlenecks and gave the client room to grow.

  • Maximum Flexibility: The team can now process multiple coil sizes on a single, unified line.
  • Increased Capacity: Higher production output helps the client reliably supply their downstream vendors.
  • Long-Term Partnership: The project resulted in $4.9 million in equipment and established a multi-year partnership with future projects planned through 2029.
